Brian T. Gillis, LMFT (he/him/his)Brian specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults who have questions about their sexuality or who identify with a different gender than they were assigned at birth. His goal is to help families navigate difficult conversations as they discover language that helps them to move toward paths of healing and love.
Brian began his training at an intensive outpatient program serving youth struggling with suicide and self-harming behaviors. He has worked in hospital settings, university-based clinics, community mental health, and private practice, and has treated individuals with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, intellectual disabilities, eating disorders, sexual dysfunctions, schizophrenia, bipolar, and personality disorders. In addition to his clinical work, Brian is completing a Ph.D. in Human Development & Family Science at Auburn University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Auburn, a Master of Divinity from Yale University, and a Master of Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. He is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a member of the Society for Research in Child Development and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Brian grew up in Dayton, OH, and is proud to call Auburn home. He enjoys being outside walking, cycling, hiking, and swimming, watching TV, and spending time with friends and family.
